Nick Cave and Tame Impala rock ARIA Awards

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Tame Impala and Flume were among the big winners at the Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) Awards in Sydney on Sunday (01Dec13). Aussie rockers Tame Impala won a slew of trophies for their hit record Lonerism, which was named Album Of The Year and Best Rock Album, and they were also named Best Group. Cave and his band were also big winners, taking home the Best Independent Release prize for Push The Sky Away, while the album was also named Best Adult Contemporary Album. Rising DJ Flume, who led the nominations with eight nods, claimed the Breakthrough Artist title as well as Best Male Artist and Best Dance Release. Other winners at the ceremony included Jessica Mauboy, who was named Best Female Artist, Guy Sebastian, who won Best Pop Release for his album Armageddon, and British/Irish pop band One Direction (Best International Artist). Rock duo Air Supply was inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame. Performers at the event included Alicia Keys, Birds of Tokyo, Tame Impala and Lorde.
