Nelson Mandela's funeral details announced

Nelson Mandela's body will lie in state for three days before he is buried in the village where he was born. The former South African leader died on Thursday evening (05Dec13) at the age of 95 after months of ill health, and the country's president, Jacob Zuma, has now confirmed his funeral will be held on 15 December (13) in his ancestral home of Qunu. The funeral will be preceded by a number of public events including a memorial service at a stadium in Johannesburg on 10 December (13), and a national day of prayer and reflection on 8 December (13). Mandela's body will also lie in state at a government building in Pretoria from 11 December (13) until the burial three days later. The state funeral will include an 18-mile (30-kilometre) procession as Mandela's coffin is driven to its destination in Qunu.
