Bon Jovi’s tour is highest-grossing of 2013

Bon Jovi’s Because We Can: The Tour has been named the highest-grossing trek of 2013. The Livin’ On a Prayer hitmakers have been performing across the world since February (13), and although they suffered a setback when guitarist Richie Sambora quit the trek in April (13) to spend more time with his daughter, the rockers have still managed to pull in the crowds – the concerts banked the band a staggering $205 million (£137 million), making it the most lucrative tour this year (13), according to Billboard magazine.
The huge figure places the group way ahead of the second-placed show – the Cirque Du Soleil’s Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour brought in $157 million (£105 million).
Pop superstar Pink took third place with $147.9 million (£98.6 million) from her The Truth About Love shows, narrowly beating Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s Wrecking Ball gigs at four with $147.6 million (£98.4 million).
Rounding out the top five is Rihanna’s Diamonds World Tour, which earned $137 million (£91 million).
The Rolling Stones ($126 million/£84 million), Taylor Swift ($115 million/£77 million) and Beyonce ($104 million/£69 million) also made the list.
