Dec 30, 2013 | 11:46am EST

The Georgian townhouse Jimi Hendrix once called home is to be turned into a museum highlighting the guitar great's life and career. Officials and fans have won a $1.8 million (£1.2 million) grant to revamp the Brook Street attic in London, where Hendrix lived with his girlfriend Kathy Etchingham from 1968. The new museum will feature artifacts from Hendrix's life and memorabilia from his career. The place will also be refurbished to look just like it did when Hendrix lived there. A blue plaque commemorating Hendrix's former London home was put up in 1997.
