Hollywood actor Jeff Bridges is urging fans to shun the use of plastic bottles in the new year (14) to help save the planet. The Oscar winner has thrown his support behind the Plastic Pollution Coalition's Resolve to Refuse campaign, which aims to reduce the amount of plastic packaging which is wasted every year. Bridges has promised not to waste plastic bottles, and wants fans to do the same. In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, he shares a link to the drive, adding, "Let's make 2014 the year we Resolve 2 refuse! Join me & Plastic Pollutes... I resolve to refuse disposable plastics and hope you will too. Join me." In a statement to the campaign, he adds, "Plastic bottles have got to go. The bottles take a large amount of energy and fossil fuel to produce, then leach chemicals: phthalates and BPA (bisphenol A) into the beverage, and will last forever. What is convenient about that?"
