Jan 20, 2014 | 10:58am EST

Veteran singer Frankie Valli has pulled out of a concert in Bangkok, Thailand this week (begs20Jan14) over safety concerns. Twenty-eight people were wounded on Sunday (19Jan14) when two explosions ripped through the city as protesters continue to call for the resignation of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. A number of other violent clashes have also resulted in nine deaths since November (13). As a result of the growing unrest, promoters at BEC-Tero Entertainment PCL have axed a Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons show, scheduled for Wednesday (22Jan14). A statement released by Valli reads: "I am truly disappointed that I can't perform for my fans in Thailand on Jan. 22. But your safety and security are more important and really matter to me. My thoughts are with you all. I promise I will come back to perform in Thailand soon."
