Writer/producer Ben Starr dies at 92

Producer/writer Ben Starr has died at the age of 92. Starr passed away on Sunday (19Jan14) at his Los Angeles home. The comedian began his career in radio as a writer for Al Jolson, George Burns, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. He then moved into TV and film in the 1950s, adapting and producing several popular series and movies, including Oliver Twist, Treasure Island, The Brady Bunch, All In The Family and Diff'rent Strokes. He was also the co-creator of beloved U.S. TV series Silver Spoons and Facts Of Life, which ran from 1979 to 1988. In addition to his TV and film work, Starr also penned plays including The Family Way, which ran on Broadway in 1965.
