J.J. Abrams, the brains behind the new Star Wars saga, has confirmed that Breaking Bad star Jesse Plemons is in the running for a major role in the latest instalment of the sci-fi film franchise. The director has been reluctant to release news about the new film, but he opened up about Plemons at the Television Critics Association press tour on Sunday (19Jan14). Abrams told TheWrap.com, "He is one of the actors that we've talked to." The filmmaker also confirmed that the script is finished and he's almost ready to start making the seventh Star Wars installment. He adds, "We're working really hard and we've got our script and we're in deep prep." Abrams hopes to start shooting in May (14), adding: "That's the current plan." Irish actress Saoirse Ronan and Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan have previously confirmed they auditioned for roles in the new Star Wars film.
