Singer/songwriter Steve Fromholz has died at the age of 68 after accidentally shooting himself in Texas over the weekend (18-19Jan14). Fromholz passed away on Sunday (19Jan14) near a ranch in San Angelo, Texas after a gun he was moving fell and discharged. He was best known for writing I'd Have to Be Crazy, which Willie Nelson recorded in 1976. Fromholz also wrote Texas Trilogy and Bears, which Lyle Lovett covered on his 1998 album Step Inside This House. As a singer, he performed with Michael Martin Murphey and Stephen Stills and created the folk duo Frummox with Dan McCrimmon. In 2007, he was named the state of Texas' official poet laureate.
