Irish rocker Christy Dignam is "on the mend" almost a year into his battle with cancer. The Aslan frontman was diagnosed with blood cancer last March (13) and stepped out of the spotlight to focus on fighting the disease with chemotherapy sessions. Now his bandmates have released a statement to thank fans for their ongoing support, revealing the treatment is working and Dignam is growing stronger. A statement posted on the group's Facebook.com page reads, "We would lake to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support, well wishes, kindness and understanding over the last challenging ten months. "We feel your support has helped carry us to where we are today and for that we are truly grateful. Christy has returned from the U.K. with the good news that his treatment is working well and he is now on the mend. There is still a long way to go with the recovery process, but, this good news has really given us all the best possible start to 2014. "With such promising news, we hope this means that we will see you all stage side later on this year!" Dignam was last seen in public in October (13) at a cancer charity event in Dublin, Ireland.
