A new musical about the life of rocker Janis Joplin will end its Broadway run next month (Feb14). The curtain will fall on A Night With Janis Joplin for the last time when the show closes after a five-month run at New York City's Lyceum Theatre on 16 February (14), but the production won't be dark for long - producers are planning to stage the musical off-Broadway from March (14). A statement from producer Michael Cohl reads: "We are tremendously proud of this show, and excited about the many people who want to see A Night with Janis Joplin in New York. We are finalizing a wonderful option to move to another venue in New York City. "Our intention is to solidify our new location in the next few weeks and to reopen in March... We know that the music and the story of Janis Joplin deserve to live on." The concert-style show stars Mary Bridget Davies as the Piece of My Heart hitmaker, who died from a drug overdose in 1970.
