The Red Hot Chili Peppers are to follow up their Super Bowl half-time performance by headlining the 2014 Isle of Wight Festival this summer (14). The gig will be the Los Angeles-based group's first U.K. festival appearance since 2007. In a statement announcing the news on Thursday (30Jan14), the band says, "To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and the Doors. When we were offered the slot, we jumped at the chance. It will be our only show in the UK/Ireland this year so we intend to make it really special." Biffy Clyro and Calvin Harris will also headline the festival, which takes place in Newport in June (14). Rudimental, the Waterboys and Passenger have also been confirmed for the event.
