An online streaming website for U.S. TV network HBO crashed on Sunday night (09Mar14) after fans flocked to catch the season finale of Matthew Mcconaughey's series True Detective. The Oscar winner plays a Louisiana State Police detective on the hunt for a serial killer alongside Woody Harrelson in the crime drama, which became a hit following its debut in January (14). The show's first season ended on Sunday, and devotees raced to catch the final episode online, bringing HBO's streaming service down. A representative for the network tweeted: "Due to overwhelmingly popular demand for True Detective, we've been made aware of an issue affecting some users. Please try again soon." McConaughey, who won a Best Actor Oscar for his turn in Dallas Buyers Club earlier this month (Mar14), recently confirmed he will not be returning for a second series of True Detective.
