Former Happy Mondays star Bez has thrown his hat into the world of politics by announcing his plans to run as a Member of Parliament for his native Salford, England in next year's (15) election. The dancer/singer is scheduled to make his first official appearance as a candidate at an anti-fracking protest at Barton Moss on Sunday (16Mar14). He tells the Manchester Evening News, "I've been saying we need a revolution and there's no good shouting about it when you're not actually doing anything. If you want to do something about things you've got to get into the corridors of power and take them on. "If you're voting for me, you're voting as a protest about what's happening in the world at the moment. I'm going to create a new world order and... start again with a new, fairer system without evil being the main policy." If Bez, real name Mark Berry, is successful, he'll replace Labour Party MP Hazel Blears, who is stepping down ahead of the election.
