Sir Elton John's songwriting partner has revealed his vision of the pair's Bennie & The Jets was realised by Robert Palmer in his iconic Addicted To Love video. Elton and Bernie Taupin created the song in the early 1970s but it was 15 years before the lyricist actually caught a glimpse of what Bennie & the Jets would actually look like - as Palmer's backing band. He tells Rolling Stone, "I saw them as a proto-sci-fi punk band fronted by and androgynous woman who looks like something out of a Helmut Newton photograph. "Years later, when I saw Robert Palmer's video for Addicted to Love, I went, 'Hey, that's Bennie & the Jets!'" Palmer's video featured the late singer/songwriter surrounded by sultry models all wearing tight black mini-dresses, high heels and red lipstick.
