Director Richard Shepard feared for Jude Law's health as he piled on the pounds for new movie Dom Hemingway, because the actor was indulging in so many sugary sodas and fattening foods. The British star gained 20 pounds (nine kilograms) to play a criminal fresh out of prison in the gritty drama, but Shepard admits he was genuinely worried that Law's commitment to the role would cause him serious health troubles. The filmmaker tells the New York Post, "He was drinking, like, 10 sodas a day, drinking non-alcoholic beer, which is disgusting, and he was pasty-faced (from) smoking. I was like, 'Just don't have a heart attack until we are done filming.'" Law admits cutting out all the bad food after shooting wrapped wasn't as easy as he thought it would be. He says, "It was tough to turn it off at the end. It was allowing myself to say 'yes' to everything - ice cream... burgers... all the wrong stuff."
