Singer Alicia Keys and activist Gloria Steinem will be honoured for their philanthropic work at the Diane von Furstenberg Awards in New York City. The acclaimed fashion designer will present the accolades during the annual DVF Gala on Friday (04Apr14) at the United Nations Headquarters. Keys has been announced as the recipient of the Inspiration Award, a prize given to a woman who has used her experience and influence to effect positive change, while feminist icon Steinem will be handed the Lifetime Leadership Award, in celebration of her commitment to instilling leadership, strength and courage in other women. Both Keys and Steinem will also receive $50,000 (£32,000) for a charity of their choice. Stars including Meryl Streep and Sarah Jessica Parker are also expected to attend the DVF Awards, which were created in 2010 by von Furstenberg and her organisation The Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation.
