British singer Jessie J only dates men now, three years after coming out as bisexual. In 2011, the Price Tag hitmaker made headlines by talking candidly about her past relationships with women and insisting she loves her significant others, no matter what their gender. However, when fans recently criticised her for not embracing her bisexuality, Jessie J took to Twitter.com on Sunday (06Apr14) to set the record straight, admitting she has changed over the past few years and only dates men now.
She wrote, "Remember the thing that you tried/did back in the day. The phase you had? That is so not YOU anymore?! And you look back and think wow how I've changed... "I have those too. Yet I've noticed some people hold onto mine because they were blogged and put into the media. Fame doesn't stop people evolving and growing up. Defining me by old news. "I have changed and grown up A LOT, and that's allowed. And I feel more comfortable in my own skin now than ever before. We all are on a journey and I refuse to feel boxed and judged because of how I felt once! A long a** time ago."
She continued, "Now I'm reading 'Jessie J is no longer my perfect role model' People? Let's get real here. There is no such thing as 'A perfect role model'... Let the past be the past. I don't want to perfect. I don't want to be a role model. It's not real. I want to be real." After posting the messages, she responded to a fan who asked her to get "straight to the point" and replied, "I only fancy/date/love men and only men. Is that straight to the point enough?"
