Sci-fi favourite Leonard Nimoy is to be feted for his stellar TV career with a special hometown Emmy Award. The Boston/New England chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Science, the organisation behind the Emmys, will honour the 83-year-old Star Trek actor with the prestigious Governors' Award at a prizegiving gala on 7 June (14). Nimoy, who was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts and began his acting career in the city, has earned four Primetime Emmy Award nominations during his career, but never won. The Governors' Award is presented to stars whose achievements do not fall within the remit of the standard award categories in recognition of long-standing and remarkable accomplishments.
