Sports icon David Beckham has launched a new charitable fund to promote youth soccer in China. The retired soccer legend has teamed up with officials at the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation to create a new organisation to help boost the sport's profile among young people in the country. During an appearance in Beijing on Monday (21Apr14), he said, "Obviously I'm very proud of my involvement with the foundation. Everybody knows how important youth and the children are to me. I have four beautiful children myself, so I know how important children are. It sounds obvious, but they're our future." The partnership comes after Beckham helped to raise $415,000 (£259,000) by donating six soccer tops and a Jaguar sports car to an auction for the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation last year (13).
