Actor/writer Danny Strong is set to make his directorial debut with a new biopic based on the life of author J.D. Salinger. The screenwriter, who won acclaim for his Lee Daniels' The Butler script, will helm Salinger's War, which will be based on Kenneth Slawensk's JD Salinger: A Life. Strong has also penned the screenplay. The movie will centre on the Catcher in the Rye writer's early days in New York in the 1940s as he tries to establish himself as an author, and his wartime activities.
