Bruce Springsteen provided musical entertainment at a fundraising benefit for director Steven Spielberg's Shoah Foundation on Wednesday night (07May14), at which guest of honour President Barack Obama was awarded a humanitarian trophy. The director was joined by a host of celebrity friends as he celebrated the 20th anniversary of the foundation, which he set up after making Holocaust drama Schindler's List to help archivists collect and store video accounts of World War Two Nazi concentration camp survivors. Springsteen performed acoustic versions of Dancing in the Dark and Promised Land at the benefit in Los Angeles and then found himself sharing a table with Spielberg and Obama, who was handed the Ambassador for Humanity Award. Schlinder’s List star Liam Neeson kicked off the evening by remembering the making of the 1993 film and how it led to Spielberg forming the foundation. Barbra Streisand, Rita Wilson and Samuel L. Jackson were also among the special guests. Pulp Fiction star Jackson was moved to post a picture on Twitter.com of a Holocaust survivor giving a speech onstage, writing, "This woman was on Schindlers List! A real survivor!"
