Austrian actor Karlheinz Bohm dead at 86

Actor Karlheinz Bohm has died at the age of 86. The star passed away on Thursday (29May14) in Grodig, in his native Austria.
Bohm, who was the son of conductor Karl Bohm and singer Thea Linhard, was best known for his role as Kaiser Franz Joseph in 1955’s Sissi and its two sequels, Sissi: The Young Empress and Sissi: The Fateful Years of an Empress.
He also starred as Jacob Grimm in The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm in 1962, Ludwig van Beethoven in The Magnificent Rebel, and Mark Lewis in Peeping Tom.
In addition to his acting work, Bohm was also known for his philanthropic ventures, founding Humans for Humans (Menchen fur Menchen), which raises money to help the poor in Ethiopia.
He is survived by his seven children, including actress Katharina Bohm.
