Game of Thrones author offers to kill off fans in new book

Jun 06, 2014 | 1:46pm EDT

Game Of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin is offering two lucky fans the chance to live - and die - in an upcoming instalment of the fantasy series. Martin has set up a new donation site in a bid to raise funds for a Santa Fe, New Mexico wolf sanctuary, and as part of the prize, fans will be able to read about their own gory deaths. The odd tribute will cost the winner a $20,000 (£12,500) donation. He or she will get to choose their "character's station in the world" and Martin promises a "grisly death". The full details and ways to donate are available at the Prizeo website. In a video announcing the initiative, the author also offers up a breakfast with him for $15,000 (£9,400) and one of his signature hats for $7,500 (£4,700). The fundraiser is the brainchild of Martin's wife, Parris McBride, and all proceeds will benefit the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary and Santa Fe charity The Food Depot of Santa Fe.
