Nine revellers were hospitalised as The Libertines' huge comeback show on Saturday (05Jul14) descended into chaos. The cult British band performed for 60,000 fans at London's Hyde Park but the concert was halted several times as it was blighted by sporadic incidents of violence in the crowd and a frightening crush at the front of the audience. Witnesses reported seeing dozens of fans being pulled from the throng and fireworks being thrown in the audience, and now it has emerged nine gig-goers were taken to hospital and a further 20 were treated for injuries in the on-site medical unit. A spokesman for the gig tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "Around nine people went to the hospital but they were only minor injuries and not necessarily because of crowding by the stage." The Can't Stand Me Now hitmakers split in 2004 and reformed for several shows in 2010 before breaking up again. They reunited earlier this year (14) and played two gigs in Scotland last month (Jun14) ahead of their Hyde Park concert.
