La Roux star Elly Jackson has spoken out about the bitter bust-up that sparked her split from bandmate Ben Langmaid.

Jackson and Langmaid collaborated on La Roux's Grammy-winning self-titled debut album, but they clashed in the studio when working on the follow-up.

The pair subsequently parted ways and Jackson finished the record - titled Trouble in Paradise - with other musicians, and she has now revealed she has barely spoken to her ex-bandmate since their split.

Jackson tells British newspaper The Sun, "The moment I realised it wasn't working was one afternoon in the barn studio we worked in. We had been desperately trying to record the guitar part of Kiss And Not Tell... It was frustrating. Then we finally got this great sound and I did the best guitar performance I've ever done. But Ben didn't want it and that turned into a huge argument."

"He left that night and that was the last time we saw each other, bar sorting out the legal things a month ago. The partnership was over... I don't want to sit here and slate anyone and I fear that is where it would go. We are not on good terms at all, in any way, shape or form."

Jackson also reveals she was infuriated when many critics assumed Langmaid was the driving force behind La Roux, adding, "That did my head in. I would plainly say in interviews that I play all the parts. He doesn't even play an instrument but I wouldn't say that because I would never have been that blunt - you can't say anything because it makes you look petty so you end up shutting up."

"I would say we co-wrote and co-produced but some people would just say he wrote all the parts and he produced - that classic male/female thing which became infuriating. It did make me quite bitter."
