Actor Simon Pegg is adamant rocker Chris Martin is misunderstood by critics, insisting the Coldplay star is so generous he hands bundles of cash to the homeless. Pegg has been close friends with the Yellow hitmaker for years, and is even godfather to Apple, the rocker's daughter with his estranged wife Gwyneth Paltrow. The pair is so close that Martin even once invited Pegg onstage at a Coldplay gig, and now the Shaun of the Dead star has spoken out to hail his pal as a decent man and insist his reputation as moody and dull is not fair. Pegg tells Britain's Event magazine, "He's one of the most decent people I know. He has this compulsion to make other people feel better. He is incapable of tolerating other people's unhappiness. "I've never seen Chris walk past a homeless person without giving him a wad of cash. He'll give them £40, £60, whatever's in his pocket. And he has to deal with a lot of hate. He's someone I have a massive amount of respect for." Pegg is also keen to defend Martin's wife Paltrow, adding, "There is a lot of mean-spirited bulls**t talked. People make judgements when they don't know her and it's all just c**p."
