Marriage appears to have mellowed Maroon 5 star Adam Levine - the newlywed and his band will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards for the first time after publicly slating the prizegiving. In a 2011 tweet, Levine took issue at MTV bosses for promoting scripted reality TV series over video shows, and then poked fun at their Video Music Awards. He wrote, "The VMA's. One day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I'm drawing a line in the sand. F**k you VMA's." But it now appears he has had a change of heart, confirming that Maroon 5 will be among the performers at the big event in Los Angeles on 24 August (14). A statement reads: "We are so excited about our upcoming new album and to be part of the great VMA lineup this year. It is our first time doing the show and we are thrilled to be on it performing our new single." The group's new album, titled V, will be released in early September (14).
