California Governor denies parole for Charles Manson's right-hand man again

The right-hand man of infamous serial killer Charles Manson has been denied parole for the third time. Cult member Bruce Davis was imprisoned over 40 years ago following his conviction for the 1969 killings of musician Gary Hinman and Donald Shea. He was recommended for parole in 2010, but then-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger denied Davis his freedom, and the movie star's successor, Jerry Brown, did the same in 2012. In March (14), parole board officials again suggested the 71 year old would pose no threat to the public should he be released, but Governor Brown has stepped in to reverse the decision once more. A statement released by the politician on Friday night (08Aug14) reads: "The exceptional brutality of these crimes and the terror the Manson family inflicted on the Los Angeles community 45 years ago still resonate. "These crimes represent that 'rare circumstance' in which the aggravated nature of the crimes alone is sufficient to deny parole."
