Actor Tom Hanks is set to reprise his role as Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon in the third instalment of The Da Vinci Code franchise. The Captain Phillips star has signed on for Inferno, which will be based on Dan Brown's fourth novel in the highly-popular series, according to Deadline.com. Hanks previously appeared as Langdon in 2006's The Da Vinci Code and 2009's Angels & Demons. Filmmaker Ron Howard will also return to direct the film, while Brian Grazer will produce the project, which will begin shooting in Italy in April (15). Inferno will chronicle Langdon's journey to recover his memory, after awakening in an Italian hospital with amnesia, while he races to stop a man from releasing a global plague connected to Dante Alighieri's 14th-century epic poem Divine Comedy.
