British composer and playwright Sandy Wilson dies at 90

British composer/playwright Sandy Wilson has died at the age of 90. Wilson passed away on Wednesday (27Aug14) in Taunton, England, according to the New York Times.
He was best known for writing the book, music and lyrics for the 1953 play The Boy Friend, which debuted at the Players’ Theater in London.
In 1954, it opened in New York and marked Julie Andrews’ Broadway debut.
It was later adapted into a 1971 movie starring Tommy Tune and British model Twiggy, who made her feature film debut in the project.
In addition to The Boy Friend, Wilson also worked on 1958’s Valmouth, 1964’s Divorce Me, Darling! and a sequel to The Boy Friend.
