Rod Stewart puts a hold on retirement plans with Australian tour dates

Rod Stewart has had second thoughts about his retirement plans after booking a series of dates in Australia next year (15). The rocker recently told the Kansas City Star newspaper that he feared he only had three or four more years worth of touring left in him, but now it seems he's keen to rock forever. Announcing dates Down Under that will begin shortly after he turns 70 in January (15), the Young Turks singer insists he has no imminent plans to retire. He says, "It’s something that can’t go on forever obviously, but I am booked all the way through 2015. I’ve got the energy, the voice is in good stead, the people are still coming out to see me which I very much appreciate. And I’m still enjoying it." But ahead of the tour, which will begin in Perth in March (15), the rock veteran has a big birthday celebration to avoid: "My wife is trying to organise a big 70th birthday party and I’m trying to get out of it. Birthdays don’t mean anything to me. I don’t think birthdays mean as much to guys as they do to women."
