Film producer Mary Lea Bandy dies at 71

Movie producer and veteran museum curator Mary Lea Bandy has died at the age of 71. The film expert passed away on Monday (22Sep14) in New York City after a long illness following a stroke.
Bandy had worked in the film department of New York’s Museum of Modern Art since 1973 and enjoyed 32 years with the company before her retirement in 2005.
She expanded the department immensely during her time there and persuaded many stars to donate prints to the museum’s collection, including actor Clint Eastwood, artist Andy Warhol, and filmmaking legends Martin Scorsese and Woody Allen.
As a producer, she made documentaries including American Masters and The Old Place.
