Fashion mogul Gaby Aghion dies at 93

Pioneering fashion designer Gaby Aghion has died aged 93. Aghion’s son Philippe confirmed she passed away at her home in Paris, France on Saturday (27Sep14).
He says of his forward-thinking mother, “(She) wanted women to be able to live and work in their dresses. She was already seeing the woman as they are nowadays (sic), but this was in the ’50s, when women were barely working. She had a view of women that was very different than the prevailing view at the time.”
Aghion co-founded design house Chloe in the 1950s and changed the face of high-fashion by introducing the concept of ready-to-wear collections.
She also employed Chanel legend Karl Lagerfeld when his career was beginning in 1963.
