Actress Renee Asherson dies at 99

Actress Renee Asherson has died, aged 99.

The British star passed away on Thursday (30Oct14). No more details were available as WENN went to press.

Asherson, real name Dorothy Renee Ascherson, started her career in theatre in 1935, performing in a number of Shakespearean plays including The Merchant of Venice, Twelfth Night, and Much Ado About Nothing.

Her most prominent role was her leading part opposite Laurence Olivier in a movie adaption of Henry V in 1944. 

She also appeared with David Niven in war drama The Way Ahead and her last role was opposite Nicole Kidman in 2001 horror movie The Others. She was married to Oscar-winning actor Robert Donat until his death in 1958 and never remarried.
