One Direction named top-selling live act of 2014

Pop stars One Direction have beaten country music veteran George Strait to be named North America’s top-selling live act of 2014 in a new end-of-year poll. The popularity of the boyband’s Where We Are Tour helped them top the StubHub.com countdown, which is based on overall sales figures for artists’ tours in the past 12 months.
Strait nabs second place, thanks to his record-breaking final farewell concert in Arlington, Texas in June (14), when the retiring star drew an estimated crowd of 105,000 – making it the largest attendance for an indoor gig in North America.
According to StubHub representative Glen Lehrman, more tickets were sold for Strait’s last show than that combined for concerts by Luke Bryan and Justin Timberlake, who place third and fourth, respectively, on the list.
Beyonce and Jay Z’s On The Run tour is at five, while Billy Joel, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry also feature in the top 10.
