Production designer Robert Kinoshita dies at 100

Hollywood production designer Robert Kinoshita has died, aged 100. The veteran art director, who is best known for designing the robot in classic sci-fi series Lost in Space, passed away on 9 December (14).
In addition to his work on Lost in Space, Kinoshita also created Robby the Robot from 1956 movie Forbidden Planet.
Kinoshita’s first film credit was 1937’s 100 Men and a Girl, but his career in Hollywood was put on the backburner when he and his wife were forced into a Japanese internment camp in Arizona during World War II.
After his release, Kinoshita continued to work both in movies and TV, and he was later inducted inducted into the Robot Hall of Fame by the Carnegie-Mellon Institute.
