Chasen man 'bragged of murder'

Dec 03, 2010 | 4:00am EST

The unidentified man, who was described as a "person of interest" in the case, shot himself dead as cops approached him in the lobby of the Harvey Apartments in Los Angeles on Wednesday (01Dec10).

Now it has emerged he had previously bragged of murdering Chasen - who was gunned down as she drove home from the L.A. premiere of Burlesque last month (Nov10) - for a $10,000 fee.

He allegedly told neighbour Terri Gilpin, "You know that lady on TV? That publicist? I did it, I did it."

But Gilpin did not report the man's claims to authorities, telling the New York Daily News he was paranoid and "had a screw loose".

Police investigating the Chasen killing have not revealed why the man was wanted for questioning.
