Police spokesman Jan Strommegard says the remains of one person were found on Sunday (02Jan11) in the ashes of the house in Skara, which are believed to be those of the 83-year-old actor or his wife, 67-year-old Kia Ostling.

Both were reported missing by their relatives who say the couple apparently was home when the fire destroyed the house early Friday morning (31Dec10).

The cause of the fire was unknown as WENN went to press.

Oscarsson began making movies in the 1940s and won the best actor award at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival for his role in Hunger. He also played Holger Palmgren, Lisbeth Salander’s late lawyer and guardian, in The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.
