The actor landed a leading role in 2009's Terminator Salvation after starring in only a handful of small Australian movies, but it was his part in James Cameron's 2010 blockbuster which made him a household name across the globe.
Worthington reveals he turned to Crowe for help, and the Gladiator star advised him to always make time for his fans.
He tells Britain's Elle magazine, "We Aussie actors all know each other. I've asked Russell Crowe for advice over the years. He's really helped me out a lot. There's no school that can tell you how to handle things like losing your anonymity.
"(He told me) to handle it with sensitivity. It's hard to ask someone for their autograph. So if someone asks me, why snub them? They're braver than I am and deserve my respect."
