The star, famed for his role as Bruce Wayne's butler in Tim Burton's Batman films, passed away on Thursday (17Mar11). The cause of death is unknown.
Gough started his acting career playing a range of roles in Hammer movies including 1958's Dracula and Phantom of the Opera in 1962, before going on to win a Best Actor Tony award for stage show Bedroom Farce in 1979.
He then rose to prominence playing Alfred Pennyworth in Burton's Batman franchise from 1989, before Michael Caine took over the part for 2005's Batman Begins opposite Christian Bale.
Gough also worked with Burton on films Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride and Alice In Wonderland, alongside Johnny Depp.
