The 85-year-old Playboy boss was set to make the 25-year-old Playmate his third wife on Saturday (18Jun11) but she cancelled the nuptials on Tuesday (14Jun11).
Hefner is heartbroken by the breakdown of his relationship, but his ex-wife Conrad, who he married in 1989, has been helping lift the star's spirits.
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, Hefner writes, "The break-up is a heart breaker, but better now than after the marriage. The (celebrity website) TMZ report that Crystal & I 'had a nasty argument,' prompting her to call off the wedding, is untrue. There were no arguments.
"My ex, Kim Conrad, & her mother, came by to lend their emotional support. I appreciate it."
Conrad isn't the only one helping Hefner in the wake of his split - Paris Hilton has also reached out to the publishing mogul.
Sending a public message to him on Twitter, she declares, "Love you Hugh Hefner! So sorry to hear about the news. You deserve better then that. Let's throw a party to celebrate you being single again."
Hefner is also using humour to help him come to terms with the separation, telling his online fans, "Since we're not getting married on Saturday, I've scheduled a movie: Runaway Bride. Seems appropriate."
