The actress returned to court on Thursday morning (23Jun11) to face accusations she had been caught boozing while under house arrest at her home in Venice, California.
Officials at the Los Angeles County Probation Department reportedly asked the judge in the case to cancel Lohan's house arrest, which is set to end next week (29Jun11) - and sentence her to jail.
But the judge ruled that Lohan's alcohol test was carried out weeks after the order for her not to drink had expired.
She was, however, reprimanded for hosting a barbecue at her home while serving out her house arrest. Calling the rooftop bash "bad judgment", the judge banned the Mean Girls star from having anything that resembled a party.
Lohan, who has battled substance abuse and alcohol issues in the past, recently told Life & Style magazine her home was an alcohol-free zone: "When my friends come over, they're not drinking. Alcohol is not in my house, so it's just not a part of my life."
Lohan began a 35-day house arrest term last month (May11) after she was accused of stealing a necklace from a jewellery store in Venice. She was originally sentenced to serve 120 days behind bars after pleading no contest to a misdemeanour charge, but her punishment was reduced to 35 days of home confinement due to jail overcrowding.
It now appears Lohan will be free to celebrate her 25th birthday next week (02Jul11).
After arriving home from court at lunchtime on Thursday, Lohan tweeted, "Thank you to all of my fans for your support. Sending you Love and Light."
