The Wire star admits he has been plagued by a frightening dream following his portrayal of the notorious British murderer in forthcoming drama Appropriate Adult, which centres around the interviews Fred gave to cops after his arrest in 1994.
He tells Britain's Radio Times, "I have this recurring dream where I'm perched on a wall and Fred West is trying to grab me and pull me down. But I didn't let him get to me. I was determined not to."
West has also defended the film following criticism from the killer's daughter Anne Marie Davis, who claims the broadcast will cause "unimaginable distress to the families of the young girls who were murdered".
West argues, "The production team have found a way of telling this story through the eyes of a social worker who was sent to interview West in prison. I think it's effective without being sensational in any way."
The film is due to air in the U.K. later this year (11).
