The Transformers star pledged his support to the area after it was hit by floods in June (11), and he was named honorary chairman of a fund established for those left homeless.

He has been urging his followers to vote for the city's Oak Park in a contest run by Coca-Cola, and he was delighted when the green space topped the America Is Your Park campaign - landing Minot officials a $100,000 grant to makeover the area.

In a post on Twitter on Wednesday (28Sep11), the actor wrote, "A huge thank you to everyone who voted for #OakPark. We won the $100k from @CocaCola!"

Duhamel also persuaded his wife Fergie's band the Black Eyed Peas to headline a local benefit concert in Minot earlier this month (Sep11). The show raised more than $1 million (£625,000) for local charities.
