Cameron Douglas is currently serving a five-year prison sentence after admitting a charge of methamphetamine possession with intent to distribute, and one count of cocaine possession, stemming from his arrest two years ago.
Illegal Mexican immigrants David and Eduardo Escalera are now standing trial, accused of providing Douglas and others with large quantities of drugs.
On Tuesday (04Oct11), Douglas appeared as a witness for the prosecution, testifying against the siblings, and he claimed David Escalera acted as his personal drug dealer, allegedly providing him with cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin during meetings at his home and at gas stations.
During the hearing, Douglas also opened up about his personal drug issues, revealing he wished he had never been freed on bail after his arrest because he could have received treatment for drug addiction while behind bars.
He told the court room, "They provide you with methadone when you're a heroin addict. I would have been better off if I had stayed at the MCC (Metropolitan Correctional Center). I didn't know that they provided methadone at the MCC until I got back there."
The brothers refused to accept plea deals earlier this year (11) and pleaded not guilty to a number of charges.
Cross-examination of Douglas, who agreed to testify as part of his own plea deal, is expected to continue on Wednesday (05Oct11).
