Even though the cover was leaked a few weeks early, Lindsay Lohan's Playboy issue is making record-breaking sales for the popular men's magazine. That's right -- turns out a naked Lilo is a pretty hot commodity these days (for some reason), which makes Hugh Hefner a very happy man. The magazine mogul posted about the news on his Twitter account on Sunday, writing, "The Lindsay Lohan January-February Double Issue is breaking sales records." A Playboy spokesman would not give out any specific numbers, but the official told CNN it was selling "very well."
As you may recall, Lindsay was paid close to $1 million to pose for the photos, which were taken in a style reminiscent of the photographs of Marilyn Monroe that graced the debut issue of Playboy in 1953. But unlike Lindsay, Marilyn was paid only $50 for the photo shoot (which further proves how screwed up our economy is nowadays). That by itself is depressing to think about, but what I'm even more concerned with is how so many people were willing to spend their money on something like this -- especially when you can see it online for free. I just feel like there are much better ways to spend money -- like on Angry Birds memorabilia (no, just me?) or something else important.
I guess what I'm saying is -- stop the madness! It feels like we're helping pay for her next court case!
