Daniel Craig seems to have a lot of opinions lately. First, he went public with commentary about The Kardashians and their constant complaining about the fame they pretty much asked for - angering mama bear Kris Jenner, who demanded an apology to no avail. Now, Craig is singing a more positive tune about fellow actor, George Clooney. Of course, his praise first came at the cost of more expressions of his disgust with celebrities who back political campaigns without knowing anything about them. He admires Clooney for being the exact opposite of that type of star.
Craig told the Men's Journal, "George has his finger on the political pulse. He's one of those guys who can get up and talk, and I don't have that. If someone shoves a microphone in your face and says, 'Explain yourself,' you have to have a 100 percent understanding of why you're doing it, and, unless you're 100 percent, don't do it, let your work speak for itself."
It makes sense that Craig, and many of the rest of us, associate Clooney with politcal movements. He helped support President Barack Obama's campaign in 2008 and his own father's congressional run in 2004. He's been a part of important films like Syriana and Good Night and Good Luck and more recently threw all of his talents into directing and co-starring in the political thriller The Ides of March.
But it would seem that Clooney is sure to stay away from the political arena for reasons similar to the way Craig feels about politicians: Craig said, "Politicians are s***heads" and "They'll turn around and stab you in the f***ing back." Clooney more eloquently stated that he has no interest in becoming a politician because he doesn't like the idea that his decision could ruin (or take away) the lives of others and that when he saw the compromises that were necessary to win political office when he helped with his dad's congressional run, he was completely turned off.
And if Craig is right, Clooney's disinterest is for the best. We can't have everyone's favorite silver fox becoming America's most handsome s***head, now can we?
