It's been almost a year since Adele's hit album, 21, hit our radio waves and we still can't get enough. Seriously, whether we're enjoying Glee's killer mash-up or just putting her songs on iTunes repeat, the powerhouse singer has formed a permanent place in our hearts (and on our iPods). And rumor has it, there's plenty of data to back that up. Billboard and Nielsen Soundscan recently released their year-end reports and the results show that Adele's 21 album was the Top-Selling Album of 2011.
According to the data, the soulful singer toppled all other artists in record sales, selling a reported 5.82 million copies of 21, while her hit single "Rolling in the Deep" additionally moved 5.81 million downloads. Pretty good for a year's work, wouldn't you say? And if that's not impressive enough, the British artist's album entered the chart at No. 1 last February and has never dropped out of the Top 10.
Trailing behind in second place was Michael Bublé's holiday album, Christmas, which sold nearly 2.5 million copies last year, followed closely by Lady Gaga's Born This Way (2.1 million), Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV (1.9 million) and Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party (1.6 million). Definitely impressive, but there's no doubt that this was absolutely Adele's year in music. With all her success, it's no wonder she was named Billboard's Artist of the Year. 2011 was rolling in Adele!
