The organizers for the People's Choice Awards aren't taking any chances this year when it comes to estranged-marital spats, which is why they've decided to uninvite Russell Brand to the awards show entirely. Evidently Katy Perry is set to receive a gong that night, and those in charge of the event wanted to make sure there was no chance of a bitter confrontation between the female singer and her soon to be ex-husband.
A source told The Mirror that, 'It was always going to be awkward for organizers in any case after [Katy and Russell's] shock decision to split. But in order to avoid any awkwardness or confrontation Russ is no longer on the list." I sort of understand where the "higher-ups" are coming from, but it just seems a little harsh, not to mention unprofessional. I feel like I'm back in the 4th grade and I'm no longer allowed to invite one of my friend's to my birthday party because my other friend isn't getting along with her. Can't we all just be friends?
But seriously, couldn't they have just made it so they would be seated at opposite ends of the room or something? I mean, they're both adults, so I really don't see what the big deal is. Unless they have proof that Russell is planning on pulling a Kanye West during Perry's ceremonial speech, I say they should let him come. Nothing like a little red carpet tension to help kick off an awards show!
